We got a great historic tour of the search for the source of the Nile at the Foyle Reading Room of the Royal Geographic Society. Those artifacts on the table include Baker's elephant gun and both Livingstone's and Stanley's hats worn during their famous meeting at Ujiji. The sextants and compasses are those used by these explorers. (Host Eugene Rae is holding a picture of Livingstone.)
On our way out we stopped at the monument to Livingstone. Tomorrow we will visit his tomb in Westminster Abbey, and in two weeks we will be in the African bush at the site where Livingstone died.
Oh, and here is a photo of the first drawing of Victoria Falls by a westerner's hand - Livingstone's.
